The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) revealed that its true agents broke into the home of Dorathy Bachor, a former BBNaija housemate.
On her Instagram page, Dorathy regretted the tragic incident and voiced concern at how dangerous it is to be a Nigerian.
The agents allegedly broke into the star’s home, claiming they were looking for a suspected internet fraudster.
She claimed that the EFCC officers recognized her as a BBNaija star and then left.
In a statement released on Monday, the EFCC said its operatives broke into the residence when the residents refused to unlock the door.
”The Commission can report that on Monday, August 23, 2021, operatives from the Commission’s Lagos Command, acting on verified intelligence, executed a Search Warrant at a block of apartments in the Lekki area of Lagos, during which nine online fraud suspects were arrested.
”One of the flats in the building happened to be Ms Bachor’s. EFCC agents had come on her door, identifying themselves as members of the Commission on a mission to carry out a search warrant. Bachor’s sister, however, refused them admission for several minutes.
The operatives had no choice but to force their way in, lest suspects flee or important evidence be destroyed.
”It is critical to emphasize that law-abiding persons have no excuse to refuse to comply with a legally granted Search Warrant.
Ms Bachor was not present during the operation, contrary to social media reports. The anti-EFCC stories about her emerging half-naked and other fantastical details appear to have been made up to fit the pattern she and others internet-fueled celebrities so desperately want to push about the EFCC.
”It’s worth repeating that nine alleged internet fraud suspects were caught in the block where Ms Bachor’s apartment is located.
