Olamide Gbenga Adedeji aka Olamide, 32-year-old recording artist, has revealed that he is his only competition in the music industry.
Olamide says in an interview with CNN that, while he understands the concept of healthy competition, he sees himself as his only competitor.
“It’s business, and there’s such a thing as healthy competition and all that — but in life, my only competitor is the man I was yesterday.”
He went on to say that he doesn’t care who is better than him in the industry or who he is significantly better than.
“As a result, I’m not concerned with who I’m better than or who is better than me. I’m more concerned with how much better I can be than I was yesterday. For me, that is the most important thing.”
The father of three also stated that he will not be one to brag about himself, but rather will continue to raise the bar and push his brand to its limits.
“For me, it’s all about pushing my brand to the limit and getting the paper just right.”
Anything after that is considered a bonus. If I see an opportunity to push my brand to the limit, I’ll take it, and if I see an opportunity to make more paper, I’ll take it. But why don’t I blow my trumpet? “No, that isn’t me.”
