I had to leave Nigeria during the End SARS protest for security reasons – Davido

Davido

DMW record label owner and singer David Davido Adeleke, aka Davido, has claimed that he was forced to flee Nigeria due to his participation in the #EndSARS protests in October 2020.

Davido revealed this while on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.
According to him, one of his songs, ‘Fem,’ became the protest anthem.

Davido, on the other hand, insists that he “did not record the song (Fem) thinking the protest was going to happen.”

He did, however, admit that it was a “amazing” experience to see his voice transformed into a “instrument” used to demand change.

“I got myself into a lot of trouble,” Davido admitted. I had no choice but to leave the country. That was how bad it was.

“I was reposting everything related to the campaign. It was incredible to see people come out in such a way.

“I’ll add this: they listened to us. They were aware of our presence. They may not have changed anything, but they were rattled.”

In response to his critics, Davido released Fem after a lengthy social media hiatus.
