Magajiya Dambata, a well-known Kano singer, has died.
She died at her home in Dambatta, Kano State, on Friday evening at 86, following a brief illness.
Dambatta became famous in the 1970s and 1980s.
The songs of late Dambatta emphasized the value of education, good moral values, social vices, and child upbringing.
The renowned singer, who has since gone blind, was occasionally begging for alms in Makoda village in Kano, where she lived, in 2019.
After she was discovered struggling to maintain a good life in Kano, a public fund was established for her upkeep and renovation of her home.
