Akon, the Senegalese-American singer, has stated that he was much happier when he was poor because life is harder for the rich than it is for the poor.
This was stated by the singer in an interview with TMZ on Monday.
He admitted that he was happier when he was poor, and that success comes with a lot of problems.
“No one can sit there and tell me that I didn’t grow up in poverty. I was the young African kid, barefoot and playing soccer in the village where there was no electricity or running water.
”I knew what that looked like; trust me, I know what poverty looks like.
”But I also know what success looks like, and from personal experience, I’m having more trouble dealing with all that success entails than I did when I was poor. “I was happier when I was poor,” he admitted.
