‘Fela and the Kalakuta Queens’ To Screen in South African cinemas

Bolanle Austen-Peters’ ‘ Fela and the Kalakuta Queens’ set to screen in south African cinemas.

This was announced after a partnership between the South African State Theatre and Ster-Kinekor. This was further established with the collaboration between BAP productions and the SAST.

Screening is set to commence screening across all south African cinemas from September to October in 2021, with no actual date set yet.

In a statement made by Bolanle Austen-Peters confirming the partnership, he revealed that it was a great update and moved when the news got to him from Aubrey Sekabi, the Artistic Director of the South African State Theatre.

“It is indeed exciting times in the African Theatre industry, and BAP Production is proudly flying the Nigerian flag internationally.

 

It is the first time a Nigerian stage play has been converted to screen, after successful outings in Cairo Egypt, Pretoria South Africa, Lagos and Abuja,” Austen-Peters stated.
