On Wednesday, an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court ruled that Anthony Odita, a 44-year-old businessman, be placed in a correctional facility for allegedly sexually assaulting his two daughters.
Odita, who lives in Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos State, was charged with sexual assault by the police.
Odita was ordered to be remanded at Kirikri Correctional Centre by Magistrate O.A Layinka, who did not accept his appeal.
Layinka, on the other hand, ordered the police to transfer the case file to the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for consultation.
She postponed the case until December 6 to await the advice of the DPP.
Odita committed the offence in July at his home, according to the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Lucky Ihiehie.
The defendant sexually molested his two kids, ages 12 and 9, he said.
He claimed the offence was in violation of Sections 261 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
