Gunmen attacked Ekiti east local government, abducts four residents

On Wednesday, gunmen kidnapped four people during a midnight raid in Ilasa Ekiti, Ekiti East Local Government Area, and the Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses in the community confirmed that the gunmen stormed the Eti-Ero farmstead in Ilasa Ekiti around 1:30 a.m. and ransacked it.
According to multiple sources, a Yoruba child and three Ebira farmers were kidnapped and taken to an unknown location.

According to the source, “the gunmen arrived around 1.30 a.m. and began shooting sporadically.” The gunshots caused a lot of panics, and some brave people had to rush out of their buildings and into the woods

While they were shooting, they were searching all of the buildings, and while they were searching, they found the home of a child confirmed to be under the age of ten, as well as three other farmers.

“They were transported to an unknown location, and no one has been contacted as of yet.”

When contacted, ASP Sunday Abutu, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Ekiti Command, stated that two people were abducted, not four.

Even the police rescued one of the abductees, and one person was arrested in connection with the midnight raid.

“Our men are searching the bushes for the one and only person they have in custody. We assure the people of Ekiti State that he will be rescued and that the perpetrators will be apprehended and brought to justice,” Abutu said.
