The House of Representatives has decided to investigate illegal miners’ activities in Ilesha, Osun State.

The resolution came as a result of a motion made by Lawrence Ayeni during the plenary on Wednesday.

The House charged the committee on solid minerals with conducting the investigation by liaising with the Ministry of Mines and Steel to obtain a list of legitimate mining licenses.

The investigation was launched in response to a motion made by Lawrence Ayeni.

The lawmaker who introduced the motion stated that “illegal miners have caused untold hardship to the villagers, who have been forcibly displaced and dispossessed of their lands.”
