On Wednesday, the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo youths around the world strongly denounced the bandit invasion of the Nigeria Defense Academy (NDA) and the assassination of an Igbo army commander.
Engr. Damian Okafor, the National Youth Leader of Ohaneze Ndigbo, made the statement while briefing journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
“Igbo Youths condemns the invasion of Nigeria Defense Academy Afaka Kaduna in its entirety,” he said. “Two Army Officers were shot dead and another was abducted whose body was allegedly discovered.
Ohanaeze, on the other hand, has charged the federal government, led by President Muhammadu, with conducting an impartial investigation that would result in the arrest and conviction of the culprits.
“Igbo Youths worldwide, under the umbrella of Ohaneze Youth Wing, call on the Federal Government to launch an immediate investigation with the goal of exposing the perpetrators and sponsors of these heinous crimes against the Nigerian Army and bringing them to justice to serve as a deterrent to other criminal elements.
“It is concerning that the unfettered wandering of bandits and armed herders triggered by open grazing has posed a threat to the country’s security architecture; hence, the need for a thorough inquiry into the recent attack on the NDA,” he said.
“Nobody is free in this nation again,” the organization said, urging President Buhari’s administration to address the country’s growing insecurity. And any country at war with its own inhabitants is on the road to disaster,” he continued.
