Jigawa professor sentenced to prison for forgery

On Thursday, Prof. Steve Uchella and Boniface Afifa Oru were sentenced to five years in prison for forgery by the High Court in Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State.

The offenders faced Justice Musa Ubale, the presiding judge, on three counts of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and forgery.

The offenders were originally arraigned in court on March 21, 2018, for alleged money forgery.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to all three counts brought against them.

The prosecution, on the other hand, called seven witnesses to testify about the crime.

As a result, the judge ruled that the prosecution’s case was proven beyond a reasonable doubt. The two were found guilty and sentenced to prison.

For conspiracy, he sentenced them to three months in prison or a fine of N30,000 each, while for criminal conspiracy and breach of trust, he sentenced them to five years in prison or a fine of N500,000 each.
