Kaduna State Government Bans Transportation of Livestock


The Kaduna State Government announced on Thursday that cattle transfer to other states is prohibited.

“After extensive deliberations and a series of rigorous security inspections, the Kaduna State Government has banned the movement of livestock from the state to other states in the country,” stated Mr. Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State.

The restriction also prohibits the transfer of animals into Kaduna State from other states, according to him, and both bans are effective immediately.

According to him, the administration also wants to emphasize that bringing donkeys into the state is a criminal offense, and anyone caught doing so will face serious consequences.

The Kawo weekly market, which takes place every Tuesday in Kaduna North LGA, has been suspended, according to him.

“The Government of Kaduna State wishes to emphasize that the previous directives suspending weekly markets and selling petrol in jerrycans in Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Chikun, Igabi, and Kajuru LGAs, as well as prohibiting the felling of trees for timber, firewood, charcoal, and other commercial purposes in Birnin Gwari, Kachia, Kajuru, Giwa, Chikun, Igabi, and Kauru L

“All of these regulations will be strictly enforced by security agencies,” the statement reads.
