Kaduna state government confirms killing of community leader

The Kaduna State Government confirmed the death of a community leader, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, in the state’s Lere Local Government Area on Friday.

Mr Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, said in a statement that the Kaduna State Government had been informed of the killing of a community leader in the Lere local government area.

According to the brief, Alhaji Abdullahi was kidnapped by unknown gunmen who broke into his home in Lere in the early hours of Friday and was shot dead by his captors along a highway shortly afterwards.

According to Aruwan, Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed sadness at the news of Alhaji Abdullahi’s death and sent his condolences to the deceased’s family, while praying for the repose of his soul.

“At this time, the Kaduna State Government is awaiting detailed reports on the incident from security agencies,” the statement said.
