The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 19-year-old bandit from Inu village in Katsari’s Batsari Local Government Area.
While answering questions from reporters at the police station, the suspect revealed that he was a member of the camp of a notorious bandit leader, Bammi Tsoho, who was hiding out in Duburum forest and was on the police command’s wanted list.
The suspect claimed that he was influenced by one of Bammi Tsoho’s sons and was part of a gang of bandits who attacked and rustled a large number of livestock in Katsina State’s Batsari and Jibia LGAs.
“I had never been involved in stealing until Bammi’s son approached me and said we should go steal. That’s how I got involved with them. In Bammi Tsoho’s camp, there are about 50 of us.” The 19-year-old bandit disclosed
According to SP Isah Gambo, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer:
“The Police Command has apprehended one Ibrahim Lawal alias “DURU”, ‘m”, 19 years old of Garin-Inu village, Batsari LGA, Katsina state.
“Investigation reveals that the suspect is a member of the camp of one Bammi Tsoho, who lives in Dumburum forest and is a notorious bandit leader who has been on the command’s wanted list and is currently hibernating in Rugu forest. The suspect admitted to taking part in the attacks on Bugaje, Rayi, and other villages in the Batsari and Jibio LGAs, during which an unspecified number of animals were rustled and people were kidnapped. “An investigation is ongoing,” said SP Isah Gambo.
In a related development, SP. Gambo paraded in front of newsmen, 25-year-old Zaharaddeen Rabi’u, also known as “BAKI,” of Dan Ali village in the state’s Danmusa LGA.
Baki was apprehended by a patrol team along the Malumfashi-Katsina road with one (1) empty shell and three (3) live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
“The command also succeeded in apprehending one Zaharaddeen Rabi’u alias “BAKI”, ‘m’, 25, of Dan Ali village, Danmusa LGA, Katsina State. When the hoodlum was apprehended along the Malumfashi-Katsina road, Nemesis discovered one (1) empty shell and three (3) live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition in his possession. The suspect admitted to committing the crime. “An investigation is ongoing,” said SP. Gambo.
