Nelson Akinsowon, a 45-year-old father, has sexually abused his daughter for the past seven years.
The secondary school girl told police officers at the Fagun Police Division in Ondo town, Ondo West Local Government Area, that she had run away from home because she could no longer tolerate the harassment.
The kid described how her father, a secondary school teacher, began assaulting her in 2014 and has continued since then.
According to him, the abuse began after her mother left the house owing to health problems.
She went on to say that her father’s wife, who had been preaching to her about not dating males until she was married, was completely unaware of what was going on.
“I couldn’t take it any longer, and there was no one I could turn to because he threatened to murder me if I revealed his deed.
“This caused me to flee the house until the police encouraged me to come to the station.”
Meanwhile, the suspect who was apprehended by the Fagun Division Police Department disputed his daughter’s charges.
“It was her mother who concocted up the story against me merely to damage my reputation in society because she is no longer staying with me as my wife,” the suspect claims.
I’ve never shared a bed with my daughter.”
One of the victim’s family members also revealed that the girl confided in her about what had happened.
The girl told the family member who requested anonymity that the father used to sleep with her when he was inebriated.
