In Jigawa State, the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) announced the arrest of 137 suspected drug addicts.
Hajiya Maryam Sani, the NDLEA State Commandant, announced this while presenting the suspects at the Agency’s headquarters in Dutse, the State capital.
She said the suspects were apprehended over the course of two weeks in combined operations in the local governments of Dutse, Kazaure, Hadejia, Babura, Gumel, and Birnin Kudu.
According to Maryam, 132 males and two females were arrested during the operation, with 25 of them being students from various institutions.
“Two are public servants (Police and Immigration), two are civil servants, and two are traditional leaders,” she explained.
2.559 kilograms of psychotropic chemicals were seized, with a total grant of 5.974 kg of various medications worth millions of naira.
