Unknown gunmen kidnapped Dr Ibrahim Garba, Permanent Secretary of the Niger State Ministry of Transport, and his son on Friday.

Mr Monday Kuryas, the state Commissioner of Police, stated this in an interview with newsmen in Minna on Saturday, according to NAN.

He claimed that the father and son were kidnapped from their home in Zungeru, Wushishi Local Government Area, following a wedding ceremony at Garba’s house.

The police commissioner stated that investigations into the abduction had begun and that the perpetrators would be apprehended.

“We have since deployed armed security personnel to the area to assist in the rescue of the victims,” he said.

Kuryas urged residents to provide any useful information that could aid in the arrest and prosecution of criminal elements.

“All we ask of the public is that they provide us with credible information on the movement of dubious characters in their midst so that we can take appropriate action,” said the police commissioner.
