The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has named Yemi Akinwonmi, its Deputy National Chairman (South), as temporary National Chairman.
On Thursday, PDP spokesman Kola Ologbondiyan confirmed the news to reporters.
After a closed-door meeting of the National Working Committee in Abuja on Thursday, Akinwonmi was confirmed as the National Chairman.
He stated that the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting has been rescheduled for Saturday.
“Elder Yemi Akinwonmi was unanimously approved as Acting National Chairman,” Ologbondiyan stated.
“We will have our caucus and another NWC meeting tomorrow in preparation for our National Executive Council meeting on Saturday at 12 o’clock.”
The confirmation comes after the PDP’s national chairman, Uche Secondus, was ordered by a Rivers State High Court not to parade himself as the party’s national chairman.
