Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has stated the conditions for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to win the governorship election in Anambra State next month.
Saraki stated that the PDP can only win if the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, conducts a free, fair, and credible election.
The former Governor of Kwara State, who appeared on Arise News on Tuesday, urged INEC to ensure the transmission of electoral results during the Anambra State governorship election.
“I think what is most important is to ensure that the election holds, that it is free and fair, that INEC ensures that the results are transmitted, and that the government provides security for people to exercise their civic duties,” Saraki said.
“Because we are practicing democracy, we must also encourage people to cooperate.” Elections are the only time when people have the opportunity to choose their leaders.
“It would be unjust if Anambra citizens were unable to exercise their rights.”
“The PDP has a very good candidate who has a very good chance of winning in Anambra State; we have always done well in Anambra.” We have a lively and well-liked candidate. I believe that the people of Anambra will look to see who will provide them with good opportunities, unite, and bring development to the state.
“And I believe the PDP candidate would do the same.” But, in order to do so, INEC must ensure that elections are free, fair, and credible.”
