Dortmund’s season has been hampered by Erling Haaland’s continued absence due to a hip injury, and they will have to settle for a Europa League spot.
Liverpool had already qualified for the last 16 when they faced Porto at Anfield, and Thiago Alcantara’s brilliant low shot with Mohamed Salah’s sixth goal of the season’s group stage sealed a comfortable 2-0 victory.
Diego Simeone’s team needs to beat Porto in their final game on December 7 and hope that Liverpool beats AC Milan, who are only one point below Porto, after losing 1-0 to Ac Milan yesterday.
