Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua’s promoter, has confirmed that his rematch clause with Oleksandr Usyk has been activated.
The fight is set to take place in March of the following year.
Usyk has stated that he intends to defend his newly acquired titles in Ukraine.
On the other hand, Hearn has stated that the rematch will take place in the United Kingdom.
Last week, Joshua lost his WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO titles to Usyk in a unanimous decision.
“Today, we officially triggered the Oleksandr Usyk rematch, which will take place early next spring.”
“Now that he’s back in the game, we’re expecting him to become a three-time world champion.”
“AJ had a few niggles in camp, Usyk had a bad cut, it’s officially triggered, we’ll sit down with K2 Promotions, and I believe that fight will take place in March.”
“This was a heartbreaking defeat against a pound-for-pound champion. Hearn told DAZN, “We don’t need 10-rounders to get back in the game; he needs to rip those belts off Usyk.”
