Arsenal are the outsiders to watch in the Premier League’s top four race this season, according to Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.
Carragher believes they are still in contention for a Champions League spot despite the Gunners’ three consecutive defeats to begin the season.
Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United were predicted to finish in the top four before the season began.
On the other hand, Arsenal should be “watched closely,” according to Carragher, who believes the Gunners have bounced back with victories over Burnley, Norwich, and Tottenham before drawing with Brighton before the international break.
Mikel Arteta’s team is currently 11th in the table, with 10 points from their first seven games.
“We can already see who the Premier League’s top four strongest teams are.”
“Arsenal is a team that I believe is worth keeping an eye on as the season progresses.”
“The lack of European football can be a huge help for Arteta as he spends more time with his players on the training ground if they can get consistency into their young side.”
“I believe it is too early for them to qualify for the Champions League, but they may prove to be the best equipped of the chasing pack to challenge,” Carragher wrote in the UK Telegraph.
